Roberta Hutchins

I graduated with a first class honours degree in Herbal Medicine from Middlesex University and have been working in the field of Herbal Medicine since 1997. I worked for several years as a research assistant at the Centre for Complementary Health Studies at Exeter University and have since been involved in the production of publications for the British Herbal Medicine Association (BHMA) and the European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy (ESCOP). I am currently Secretary of the BHMA, and the ESCOP Scientific Committee.

I am UK coordinator and editor for PLANT MEDICINE™. We are developing an on-line database that integrates the traditional uses and the scientific evidence on herbal medicines.

I am a herbal practitioner dedicated to the safe, responsible and effective use of herbal medicines. I am involved in extensive Continuing Professional Development to broaden and update my knowledge and skills as a herbalist.

I believe that incorporating traditional knowledge and clinical experience with the modern scientific evidence provides the best basis for clinical practice of herbal medicine. I believe that integrated medicine is the way forward and that herbal medicine should become an important element of mainstream healthcare.
